We have an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic planning and business management of the largest digital transformation programme within the Environment & Business directorate. The Regulatory Services Programme is responsible for delivering digital services that will revolutionize environmental regulation.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead within the Programme Management Office (PMO), providing valuable input into the financial and business management aspects of the programme. Your role will support risk mitigation, issue resolution, and ensure delivery aligns with the business case to provide value for money.
We seek candidates with a proven track record in managing complex financial information, collaborating across teams, and driving value for money to influence ongoing investments.
Key Tasks include:
* Understanding the financial and economic basis of the programme's business case and spending reviews.
* Ensuring programme deliverables align with strategic objectives and managing change control processes.
* Supporting the Programme Manager to ensure changes to scope, cost, and quality are managed effectively, working closely with delivery teams.
* Managing stakeholder queries and delivering regular programme reports, including financial tracking across EA, Defra, and external suppliers.
* Supporting investment and funding activities in collaboration with the Programme Manager and Director.
* Ensuring compliance with governance and assurance standards.
* Supporting business management through whole life cost allocations.
The Team:
The Digital, Innovation, and Programmes team oversees the Digital Strategy implementation, shaping the delivery of digital services to transform environmental regulation. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, including Defra shared services and third-party suppliers, to develop user-centered digital platforms that are efficient, simple, and fast.
Experience and Skills Required:
* Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic programmes.
* Extensive digital skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, SharePoint, PowerBI, etc.).
* Experience managing complex financial data.
* Understanding of financial and business planning processes, including charge funding, CDEL, and RDEL.
* Experience with purchase order processes, business case development, and approval routes.
* Knowledge of governance and spend control processes.
* Proven ability to lead, engage stakeholders, and drive innovation.
