Role Overview
We are seeking motivated and analytical Graduate Project Controls Engineers to support project controls activities across the Sellafield PPP programme.
This role will be predominantly based from our Westlakes Offices, with travel to site as required. You will gain hands-on exposure to planning, cost control, progress measurement, forecasting, and performance reporting within a highly regulated, safety-critical nuclear environment.
The role offers a structured graduate development pathway, providing the foundations for professional accreditation and progression toward Chartered Engineer or Project Professional status.
Key Responsibilities
* Support project controls activities across cost, schedule, risk, and performance management disciplines
* Assist in the development, maintenance, and analysis of project schedules (short-term and integrated)
* Support cost control activities including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis
* Assist with progress measurement, earned value analysis (EVA), and performance reporting
* Contribute to monthly reporting cycles, dashboards, and client-facing performance data
* Support risk and opportunity identification, quantification, and mitigation tracking
* Liaise with engineering, construction, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure accurate data capture and reporting
* Ensure compliance with project controls procedures, governance requirements, and nuclear regulatory expectations
* Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards
* Actively engage in structured graduate training, mentoring, and professional development activities
Key Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
* Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Interest in project controls, planning, cost management, or performance analysis within major projects
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with planning or cost tools (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI) is advantageous
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a structured project environment
* Willingness to travel to site as required
* Previous industrial placement, project, or data/analysis experience is advantageous but not essential
Security & Eligibility Requirements
Due to the nature of operational nuclear sites:
* Applicants must be eligible to obtain BPSS security clearance
* Appointment is subject to satisfactory security clearance and background checks
