Hays Recruitment is proud to support a single-form entry primary school in Warrington in their search for an experienced and qualified teaching assistant. This role involves supporting a new pupil in the reception class starting in September. The pupil has SEN and an EHCP, requiring 1:1 support on a full-time basis.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant, you will support a child in the reception class on a 1:1 basis due to SEN. The pupil has a dual diagnosis of ASD and being non-verbal. They are loving and caring but may sometimes exhibit challenging behaviors, which are communication methods when upset, triggered, or overstimulated. You will support them throughout the school day, ensuring all learning materials and activities are inclusive and accessible by adapting curriculum and equipment to their needs. Your responsibilities include supporting basic speech and language interventions, integrating the pupil into new groups to promote social and emotional development, and using sensory therapy tailored to their responses. You will also implement positive behavior strategies such as traffic light systems, bucket therapy, and reward charts.
What you'll need to succeed
To qualify for this full-time temporary contract, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, be at least Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualified, and:
* Have relevant referenceable experience in a classroom environment
* Experience supporting SEN, ASD, and/or non-verbal pupils is preferred
