The role: The Procurement function’s purpose is to balance opportunity, risk, and responsibility to drive better business outcomes through the third-party supply chain. The Director of Procurement reports to the Director of Finance Transformation, Ops, and Data within the Finance function. The goal is to protect the business against commercial, operational, and regulatory risks while delivering value for money for business budget holders.
The role holder will work closely with the Senior Procurement Manager to ensure a cohesive partnership with Business Leaders within specific Business Units.
The Procurement team focuses on:
1. Leading third-party engagements supporting business units, building partnerships, and executing contracts to optimize costs, operations, and drive innovation.
2. Providing Business Partnering Services for procurement activities, developing a savings pipeline, and demonstrating value through cost, innovation, or transformation opportunities.
Building relationships across the organization to establish operating models and ensure adherence to procurement practices is vital. Leveraging commercial insight and network connections will help drive improvements and align with procurement best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
* Developing and delivering procurement strategies for indirect spend, driving efficiencies and savings.
* Providing excellent procurement services to internal stakeholders.
* Managing supplier relationships during procurement projects.
* Creating supply chains aligned with business strategies.
* Leading procurement projects to achieve efficiencies and savings.
* Analyzing market trends to deliver value and innovative solutions.
* Building strong relationships with central teams like IT Security, Legal, and Financial Crime.
* Driving continuous process improvements within the procurement team and function.
You will have:
* Knowledge of strategic procurement, category management, financial risk, and commercial risks in indirect supply chains.
* Strong analytical skills to identify trends and insights for category improvement.
* Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
* Knowledge of procurement best practices and external networks.
* Understanding of the UK indirect supplier marketplace, including pricing, suppliers, and market dynamics.
* Experience in data analysis, trend identification, and action-driven insights.
* Experience working with external suppliers and tailoring approaches accordingly.
* Proven track record in commercial negotiations and delivering savings.
* Ability to influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
* Experience working in matrix or virtual team environments.
* Experience in financial services or services-based procurement functions.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of financial services regulations and frameworks relevant to the UK.
* Relevant professional or degree qualifications (e.g., MCIPS, MBA).
