Overview
Launceston General Hospital Cardiology Department invites applications for Advanced Trainees in Cardiology who have successfully completed RACP exams and are contemplating core training in cardiology in 2026.
The Launceston General Hospital is a tertiary referral and teaching hospital of the University of Tasmania Medical School. Its Cardiology Department has a busy academic and clinical training program serving a population of 250,000 in Northern Tasmania. The department is staffed by eight cardiologists and offers a full range of invasive and non-invasive services. The position is accredited for a full (three years) core training in cardiology; there are currently two accredited and one non-accredited advanced trainee in the department.
The Department of Health Tasmania oversees hospitals across the state, community health, mental health and primary healthcare services to the Tasmanian community through more than 300 sites.

Responsibilities
* Fixed term full-time day worker with on call, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 2 February 2026 until 31 January 2027.
* You will receive 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.

Note: hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.

Salary and Benefits
* Medical Practitioner Level 5 - 11, $134,930 – $189,005 per annum, pro rata plus 12% superannuation and access to salary packaging.
* Salary range in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022; other allowances as applicable.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Registration/licences essential to this role must remain current and valid at all times while employed; status may be checked at any time. Applicants should meet the essential criteria; desirable criteria include successfully completing RACP exams and contemplating core training in cardiology in 2026.
