Key Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Transport Manager as the Depot Team Leader, you will bring experience from previous roles in transport and logistics. You will be responsible for leading a team of drivers, ensuring timely, safe loading and transportation of goods, whilst driving high standards of customer service that lead to improved delivery experience, increased review scores and a desire to continue to purchase from Leader. You will have excellent leadership skills, a strong understanding of transportation regulations. Safety is critical. Your commitment will shine through, leading by example, setting standards, conducting regular safety walks/audits and challenging anything that does not meet these. Embedding a safety first culture where teams and individuals take responsibility, proactively report near misses, incidents and accidents. Where we care, take pride in their work and equipment seen in how individuals and vehicles are presented to represent the brand. Full investigation of any safety incidents / accidents to ensure an understanding of root cause to enable improvements and amendments as required to build in further mitigation. Full adoption of risk assessment, safe standards of driving that operate within professional driver regulations and the law including appropriate use of in-cab equipment and telephones. Vehicle and MHE inspection and SOPs to ensure we are continuously reducing risk and challenging any unsafe practice or activity regardless across all levels in the business. You will ensure all relevant licenses are up to date, training is completed to ensure full compliance and safe operating practices. You will enjoy coaching and helping others develop to drive a continuous improvement ethos. Teams and individuals will be managed against key metrics, performance management will be a natural, strong skill set that can be delivered professionally and allow time for correction. You will maintain attendance, absence, overtime and all associated personnel records submitting to timeline and identifying trends. Absence management is key and will be handled with compassion and understanding using HR, guidelines and policies to support consistent outcomes. Working directly with partners to ensure the fleet is fully serviced, road worthy and available. You will be familiar with route planning approach that use software and systems, contributing to improvement in routes via the in-house Planning Team to ensure full vehicle availability, utilisation and route and cost optimisation. A strong team player who can interact at all levels and work collaboratively across depots, warehouse and agencies to share best practice, participating in regular stand ups and performance review meetings, actively contributing to improved metrics and identifying opportunities to improve. Working closely with the other Depot Team Leaders, Managers and providing constructive feedback to Warehouse to ensure OTIF loads, efficient despatch and customer satisfaction. You will be able to prioritise based on business needs, allocate resource, maintain fleet and adapt to ensure we are able to meet demand cost effectively. Use initiative for day to day decisions and escalate as required to ensure day to day operations run smoothly. You will be resilient and tenacious with drive and energy to maintain engagement and motivation, bringing passion, positivity, energy and drive You will be competent with IT systems and able to utilise MS Office applications such as word, excel, etc., bespoke systems for returns and stock management. You will maintain records and ensure all transportation compliance needs and regulations are met. IOSH Certification Desirable. Strong knowledge of transport regulations and safety standards. Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
