Cardiac Catheter Lab Staff Nurse - Royal Brompton Hospital
We are offering a wonderful opportunity to join our team in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
The role entails working as scrub and circulating nurse in all Adult and Paediatric Interventional Cardiology procedures. Participation in the on call rota is essential. In return we offer excellent learning and development opportunities in a friendly and supportive work environment.

Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will work closely with the cath lab manager and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development as part of the ward team. Also, act as a care team leader ensuring the needs of the patients are met.
2. To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.
3. To take part in the on –call / out of hours rota on a regular basis.
4. The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care with direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment
5. To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area.
Working for our organisation
The Royal Brompton Hospital invasive cardiology suites are comprised of 5 cardiac catheter labs, and a hybrid theatre, providing you the opportunity to work at the forefront of cardiac research & treatment.
We currently undertake over 5000 cases per annum. It is an interesting & varied environment that caters for the following procedures:
6. Diagnostic cardiac angiography;
7. Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI);
8. Electrophysiology studies (EPS) & intervention;
9. Device implants including Bi-ventricular pacemakers (CRT-P & -D), Subcutaneous ICDs and implantable defibrillators;
10. A full range of diagnostic & interventional procedures for paediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease;
11. Valvular intervention, including TAVI, TMVI, and Mitraclip;
12. Impella
13. ECMO
14. Other Hybrid, including TEVAR/EVAR, Laser Lead extractions
15. Endovascular
Other Interventional Radiology
We offer the opportunity to train for specialised skills, Nurse-led sedation TAVI, Nurse-led radial access
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
16. In partnership with other professionals provide excellent patient care. This process should include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the Trust policies.
17. Following training and reaching a satisfactory level of competence, will operate medical equipment pertaining to the Cath Lab.
18. To work in all areas of the Catheter Lab suite including the Hybrid Theatre
19. Scrub and assist the cardiologist for all cath lab procedures to a competent level.
20. Ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to the Trust standard (including electronic records).
21. Participate in conducting nursing audit to achieve the agreed standards
22. To occasionally take charge of the clinical area, utilising resources effectively. Ensuring that safe staffing levels are maintained.
23. To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.
24. To take part in the on –call / out of hours rota on a regular basis.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
25. Registered nurse
26. Experience in post registration working in an acute setting or catheter Lab
27. Good basic level of English language (written and verbal)
