Main duties of the job
The Cath Lab Stock Management Officer is responsible for the day-to-day organisation, monitoring, and replenishment of stock and equipment to support both routine and emergency cardiology procedures. They work closely with nursing, physiology, and radiology teams to ensure the right levels and types of consumables are always available, helping to deliver safe, high-quality care. The post holder will work with procurement, clinicians, and suppliers to arrange new product trials, manage deliveries, identify cost-saving opportunities, and maintain accurate records for stock usage and reordering. They will ensure secure storage of high-value items and support traceability for clinical documentation. The officer promotes efficiency and safety through robust stock management processes, and is expected to work independently, uphold the values of the Trust and WPL, and be a reliable resource expert for the wider cardiology department.

Summary of responsibilities
* Order equipment, consumables, and other materials.
* Identify sources of supply and potential cost savings to share with procurement and clinical teams.
* Produce rationalisation/standardisation initiatives and manage stock efficiently and cost-effectively in line with Trust policies.
* Maintain accurate stock levels and review as required.
* Ensure correct and safe storage of all items.
* Recognise and respond to emergency situations, seeking clinical support promptly.
* Handle invoice queries, ensure correct invoicing, and receipting.
* Plan workload independently with appropriate consultation as needed.
* Participate in and lead inventory control and supply chain principles.

Person specification
Qualifications / Training Required
* Understanding Materials Management principles and processes including stock control, ordering, invoicing, and customer care skills, via NVQ level 3 or foundation stage of CIPS or equivalent experience.
* Basic level experience of Windows applications (Word and Excel).
* Good standard of education including Mathematics and English.
Previous or relevant experience
* Demonstrable customer care skills with examples on the telephone and in person.
* Experience in roles requiring good organisational skills and prioritisation of workload.
Desirable criteria
* Medical consumables product knowledge
* Knowledge of NHS Purchase Order and Materials Management systems
* Experience in NHS Procurement / Materials Management / Distribution
* Supply chain knowledge
* Knowledge of Health and Safety in the Workplace
* Previous hospital or health service experience
Aptitudes And Skills Required
