Job Title: Structural Engineer

Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 per annum (based on experience)

About The Role
* Design and specification of new build developments.
* Inspection of properties with structural defects (subsidence, floods, fires, etc.).
* Manage projects and correspond with multidisciplinary teams.
* Write repair schedules and contract documents, and conduct works inspection.
* Provide engineering services within time and budget constraints.
* Ensure subordinate staff comply with standards.
* Analyze defects in existing buildings and produce report documentation.
* Specify repairs for damaged structures including subsidence, fire damage, vehicle impact, and flood.
* Develop structural schemes for new build projects.
* Perform elemental design calculations and prepare reinforcement detail drawings.
* Administer general drawing issuance and on‑site survey work.
* Inspect contractors' work on site.
* Assist in fee proposal development and provide feedback to directors.
* Deal with technical queries and support junior staff.
* Review other engineers’ work for licensing compliance.
* Maintain awareness of company decisions’ impact on external parties and liability.
* Adopt a courteous and responsible approach to client and statutory interactions.
* Follow health and safety policies and procedures.
About You
* Degree in Structural Engineering from an IStructE‑recognised university.
* Minimum 2:1 (MEng or BEng).
* At least 5 years full‑time structural engineering experience.
* Valid driving licence with access to a car for site visits.
* Experience in design, supervision, and inspection of concrete, steel, masonry, timber, and foundations.
* Proficiency in identifying structural distress causes and extent.
* Management experience of small to medium projects up to £1 m.
* Knowledge of building defects and repair measures.
* Strong technical knowledge and practical application.
* Effective report writing and recommendation skills.
* Adept at producing clear hand sketches.
