Your Mission
As our Laboratory Technician, you'll be an essential part of our team, ensuring the reliability and accuracy that will make our sensors the industry standard. Your meticulous laboratory work and drive for continuous improvement will directly enable our groundbreaking technology to reach customers and solve real-world water monitoring challenges at scale.
Core Responsibilities:
Daily Laboratory Operations & Execution
* Execute scheduled experimental protocols with ruthless efficiency and precision
* Work with the team to map experiments to laboratory stations, timelines, and resource requirements
* Manage multiple concurrent experimental setups while maintaining extremely high quality standards
* Maintain comprehensive documentation and detailed experimental records
* Prepare high-quality chemical standards, calibration solutions, and mixtures ahead of scheduled experiments
* Perform analytical measurements and sensor calibrations under supervision
Secondary Responsibilities and Growth Opportunities:
Protocol Development & Experimental Planning
* Collaborate with the scientific and technical teams to translate objectives into detailed, executable experimental protocols
* Establish pre-defined success criteria, data collection formats, and analysis plans before initiating experiments
* Design standardized data recording templates and result formats to ensure consistency across studies
* Create clear experimental workflows that specify materials, methods, and expected outcomes
* Document protocol modifications and maintain version control for reproducible experimental procedures
Laboratory Automation & Process Innovation
* Continuously evolve laboratory workflows and processes to increase efficiency and throughput
* Implement and optimize lab automation software and systems
* Identify opportunities for automation as operations scale to hundreds of sensors
* Develop and maintain Python scripts for data collection, analysis, and workflow automation
* Design synergies in resource utilization across multiple concurrent experiments
Quality Assurance & Scale Preparation
* Execute quality control procedures that validate sensor performance at scale
* Maintain organized digital data management systems for all experimental work
* Support product validation studies critical for market readiness and industrial certifications
* Ensure laboratory utilization approaches 100% through advanced planning and organization
* Prepare laboratory operations for orders-of-magnitude growth in testing volume
What We're Seeking
Educational Background
* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related scientific field
* Strong foundation in general chemistry and analytical methods
* Software experience with digital systems, data recording, and scripting capabilities
Essential Experience Requirements
* Minimum 2 years of industrial or corporate laboratory experience (non-academic environment)
* Demonstrated experience working with product-driven deadlines and iterative development cycles
* Experience with chemistry-based sensors, IoT sensors, or biology-related sensor systems
* Proficiency with lab automation software and digital laboratory management systems
* Python programming experience required for lab automation and data analysis
Technical Competencies
* Experience preparing accurate chemical solutions and analytical standards
* Familiarity with sensor calibration, validation, and testing methodologies
* Understanding of industrial standards and certifications for sensors and chemicals (strongly preferred)
* Ability to design and optimize experimental workflows for maximum efficiency
