Community Charge Nurse – Glenapp District Nursing Team

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is one of 14 territorial NHS Boards within NHS Scotland. The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of an accessible, appropriate, high‑quality and effective nursing service to adults in the community by working in partnership with patients, care providers and other agencies. You will ensure a person‑centred approach to care delivery which is safe and effective to ensure and maintain quality strategy.

You will have experience working as a qualified registered Nurse and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a variety of client groups in the community setting. Previous community experience is essential. Leadership experience is desirable; however development/secondment applicants will be considered.

You will be responsible for the management of the caseload including supervision and deployment of staff. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work on your own initiative and as a lone worker in a variety of community settings. You should be able to provide evidence of personal development and be willing to undertake appropriate training.

The post holder will function as an independent autonomous practitioner by virtue of in‑depth knowledge, expertise, proficiency and experience to lead and enable the Community nursing team to provide a quality nursing service and will lead/manage and support the Community nursing team, be a clinical expert, be involved in public health activities, and be a key member of the Integrated Primary Care team and other multi‑disciplinary groups.


Qualifications & Experience

* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
* Educated to Degree Level
* Post‑graduate expertise within speciality/area of practice demonstrating breadth of knowledge required to lead safe, effective and efficient service delivery
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice
* Leadership skills to enable the day‑to‑day management of service delivery
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post‑graduate qualification including clinical assessment and non‑medical prescribing
* Excellent team‑working/leadership skills and motivation for others, working using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills
* Effective time‑management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology
* Car Driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence and access to a car


Hours & Term

37 hours per week. Monday to Friday 08:30‑17:00 pro rata with a weekend‑working commitment.

This post is offered on a 6‑month fixed‑term/secondment basis. The contract will end exactly 6 months from the initial start date.


Driving Licence & Vehicle

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential to this role.
