Job summary
This role involves providing consultant services to enhance the capacity of the department, addressing service deficits caused by internal job plan restructuring and increased demand. The post holder will be part of the Head and Neck Oncology MDT Team.
Responsibilities include providing training and supervision for junior medical staff and allied health professionals. Clinics and theatre sessions are conducted at East Grinstead and spoke sites.
Flexibility to accommodate changes or additions to Job Plan commitments, such as MDTs in our region, may be required.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be based at Queen Victoria Hospital. Full training in all aspects of maxillofacial surgery is essential.
The role includes participating in the service to assist colleagues with maxillofacial trauma. The department's consultants have subspecialist interests and facilitate cross-referrals; the postholder should demonstrate skills that complement and expand the existing skill mix in Head and Neck Oncology.

Qualifications (Essential)
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree at the time of application
* Dental qualification registerable with the GDC
* Successful completion of FRCS or equivalent at the time of application
* Entry on the UK Specialist Register via: oCCT, or proposed CCT date within six months of interview; oCESR, or proposed CESR date within six months; oEuropean Community Rights
Clinical Expertise (Essential)
* Thorough and broad training and experience in managing complex cases, including microvascular surgery
