SEN Teaching Assistant Key Stage 2 SEMH Support
Some children need more than encouragement. They need patience, structure, and someone who stays calm when emotions run high. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is about being that steady presence for pupils in Key Stage 2 who are developing their social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
Based in a mainstream primary school in Coventry CV6, you’ll work with small groups of pupils with SEMH needs. Sessions are led by an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant, so you’ll have guidance, consistency, and the chance to learn while making a real difference.
Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting small groups of Key Stage 2 pupils with SEMH needs.

Helping children engage positively with learning and daily routines.
*
Using calm, consistent approaches to support emotional regulation and behaviour.
*
Working closely with the HLTA and teaching staff to follow structured plans.
*
Building trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe and understood.
*
Encouraging positive interaction with peers and adults.
*
Supporting inclusion within the wider school environment.
We’re looking for someone who:

Has previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly SEMH, in a school or specialist setting.

Is patient, empathetic, and emotionally resilient.

Communicates clearly and works well as part of a team.

Understands the importance of boundaries, routine, and consistency.
*
Is committed to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing.

Is keen to learn and develop within a supportive setting.
