An exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of a part-time Receptionist, 16 hours a week, Monday 8.00am - 1.45pm, Wednesday 1.00pm - 7.00pm, Thursday 7.45am - 12.00pm, to support the expanding and busy GP surgery, The River Surgery in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.
We are ideally looking for an experienced receptionist to join our team; however, full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
Your role will be crucial to the smooth running of the practice, as you will be the first point of contact for our service users. You will need excellent interpersonal skills to ensure that all patients have a positive experience of the service.
The ideal candidate will be required to remain calm under pressure and in emergency situations. You will also need to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with patient and staff-related issues. Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, and you should be able to work independently using your initiative while maintaining a strong team approach. Flexibility and availability to cover morning and evening shifts due to annual leave and sickness are essential, but this will be shared amongst the reception team. The candidate should be confident and competent in computer and telephone skills, hardworking, self-motivated, and able to work within a team.

Job Summary:
Receive, assist, and direct patients to access the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective manner.
Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive, friendly persona to patients and visitors, either in person or via telephone.
Provide cover during annual leave and sickness absence for reception duties.
Perform ad hoc administrative duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties may include, but are not limited to, opening and closing the practice premises, managing reception services, handling enquiries, scheduling appointments, processing requests, managing correspondence, liaising with healthcare professionals, managing patient records, handling payments, restocking supplies, covering colleagues, supporting practice targets, and attending meetings.

Adhere to health and safety policies, including infection control and PPE usage, and promote a safe working environment.

Qualifications
* GCSE or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience.
