We work with blue-chip companies, schools, local government, care homes, and both commercial and domestic clients throughout Essex and London.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Project Manager to join our growing team, reporting to the Projects Director. This role is ideal for a multi-skilled tradesperson with 10+ years' hands-on experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. You will receive structured training and mentoring to develop into a fully-fledged Project Manager.
Job Brief
* Oversee and deliver a range of projects, from small maintenance works to medium-scale construction projects (£1,000 – £300k+).
* Work across Essex and London, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to contractual requirements.
* Control and monitor use of resources, including internal teams and subcontractors, to maximise efficiency and profitability.
* Undertake project administration, including maintaining accurate site records (inductions, photographs, materials, labour, plant).
* Conduct site "Toolbox Talks" and ensure health & safety procedures are strictly followed.
* Identify and implement risk assessments and safe systems of work.
* Provide timely project updates and liaise effectively with all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage projects from pre-start to handover, including snagging.
* Update project programmes with key dates, progress, and notes.
* Ensure compliance with contracts, legal requirements, and H&S policies.
* Monitor budgets, manage variations, and obtain client approvals.
* Lead site teams effectively and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements
* Minimum 10 years' practical trade experience with strong general building knowledge.
* Level 3 qualification in a trade skill (required).
* CSCS card (required).
* Full UK driving licence.
* Computer literacy (Excel and MS Office).
* Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
* Previous site management experience (beneficial).
* Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills (written & verbal).
* Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented.
