Registered General Nurse (Band 5) - HMP ChelmsfordJob IntroductionWe are looking for a committed and compassionate Band 5 Registered General Nurse to join our healthcare team at HMP Chelmsford. This is an exciting opportunity to provide essential nursing care in a secure setting, making a real impact on the health and wellbeing of people in our care.Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care to a diverse patient group, helping to improve health outcomes in a unique environment.Location: HMP Chelmsford, EssexHours: Full-time, 40 hours per weekDays: 08:00 – 18:00Rotational shifts: 10:00 – 20:00 (scheduled)Contract: PermanentJoin us and use your nursing skills where they matter most. Apply now to be part of our dedicated healthcare team.Main ResponsibilityTo provide primary care services including the assessment of self-harming and serious injury. Some of those patients will also be suffering with mental health and substance misuse issuesThis role works as part of a team delivering care to patients both within the Healthcare Centre and on the Wings / House blocks within the prison environment.The role requires autonomous function and within the scope of competency, whilst being a support and resource to less experienced members of staff. Assess patients, plan their care, administer treatment and discharge or refer them as appropriate to other healthcare professionals or external agencies.Assess prisoner’s fitness for detention, release or transfer.Assess and refer to the correct team for alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.Carry out first reception screening which is a clinical assessment when a person enters the prison.
