Medical Secretary – Adult Community Learning Disability Service
We are looking for a self‑motivated individual with strong administration experience and excellent organisational and communication skills. You should enjoy working as part of a team, but be prepared to work on your own.
Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive secretarial support to the Consultant Psychiatrist, the Professional Lead / Manager and Team Leader, and the wider Learning Disability team in the West of Argyll.
* Work effectively and under pressure within the required hours.
* Maintain a high level of office practice skills, including knowledge of medical terminology.
* Use office software and patient information systems such as Microsoft Office, E‑mail, Hospital Intranet, Trak Care PMS, SciStore, etc.
* Interact with patients, relatives and carers, GPs, Social Workers, other Health‑Care Professionals, Judicial/Legal bodies and a range of other agencies.
Qualifications
* Strong administration experience.
* Excellent organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills.
* Calm, discreet, confidential with a sensitive approach to adults with a Learning Disability.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Proficiency with office software and patient information systems (Microsoft Office, E‑mail, Hospital Intranet, Trak Care PMS, SciStore, etc.).

Benefits
* Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
