Tesco Shift Leader - Days - Billingham Bypass Esso Express

Role type: Full-time
Salary: Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 per hour; increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
Hours: New colleagues are offered a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week; options to work fewer hours (minimum 12) are available.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be present for customers, listening to their needs and ensuring they leave with what they came for
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback
* Guide and support colleagues in-store, maintaining a safe place to work and shop
* Understand store performance and assist managers in actions that improve running of the store
* Lead from the front and set a positive example
* Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
* Open and close the store, manage duty cover, and ensure safety decisions are appropriate for everyone
* Be the go-to person for day-to-day queries in the absence of a manager
* Maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and presentation of the store
* Support managers in coordinating seasonal, community and charity events
* Contribute to a positive, inclusive team atmosphere and provide great customer service
* Keep the team informed and up-to-date on communications, changes, or updates
* Stay knowledgeable about store performance and seek ways to improve operations
* Follow health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues providing great service
Qualifications & Requirements
* Must be 18 or over to apply
* Willingness to work across the availability windows provided by the role
* Ability to lead, motivate and communicate effectively with a team
* Comfort with taking the lead in the absence of the Store Manager
