The team…
We are looking to offer a fantastic opportunity to talented and committed individuals to join our Data team. This is a permanent role in our new team within the Council which has been created with the aim of building and realising the value of our corporate data platform. Your role will be key in enabling the Council to be data-driven and evidence-led, helping us to improve service delivery.
This is an exciting time to join our team. You will be part of a programme focused on building a connected, corporate data infrastructure, which is the first step in enabling us to use data more effectively to inform and evaluate decision-making. About the role….
Senior Data Engineer (Career Grade) £39,152 - £48,226
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will lead on data projects developing data pipelines and contribute to the design of our new corporate data platform that supports data-driven research, service delivery, and policy-making.
You will be responsible for:
* The development and implementation of data pipelines into our Fabric data platform, ensuring it is optimised and configured correctly to deliver high quality data solutions that meet the needs of the Council.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and delivering scalable data solutions.
* Ensuring data quality, integrity, and security across all data processes.
* Driving continuous improvement in data engineering practices and processes
* Leading on the development and maintenance of interoperable data systems, ensuring our systems and products integrate effectively.
* Champion data quality and governance across the organisation.
You should have:
* At least one year's proven experience in a data engineering role using the Azure platform
* A degree in an IT discipline or Level 5 Data Engineering Apprenticeship with relevant Microsoft certification.
* Proficiency in working with large datasets, data modelling, ETL processes and data warehousing
* Strong Python and SQL skills
* Good Power BI analytics skills
* Ability to work collaboratively and have strong problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills
