Overview
The workload of the Surgery is shared jointly by the clinicians available on the day. The salaried GP is expected to take part in their share of clinical duties, tailored to the needs of the patient population and medical practice. The list below is not exhaustive and is subject to review and amendment by mutual agreement.
Responsibilities
* Clinical duties: appointments, visits and handling queries from patients or other health‑care professionals.
* Home visits (if appropriate and agreed), shared with the GP team or the specialist practitioner present on the day.
* Administration and paperwork arising directly from own and practice caseload – referrals, investigations, results, patient‑associated tasks.
* Management of practice general incoming clinical correspondence: scanned documents, repeat prescriptions, results and patient‑associated tasks for the registered list.
* Read coding and medication reviews: accurate coding using templates where available for contractual compliance and monitoring; ensuring familiarity with protocols for enhanced services data collection; adjusting medication reviews where appropriate.
* Attend relevant Practice meetings (PET sessions) during rostered hours, rotating days where possible to accommodate attendance.
* Participate in the audit process: initiating and running cyclical audits to support quality of care.
* Personal CPD: keep up to date with all Practice Protocols and Policies; maintain professional CPD, safeguarding as part of the revalidation process; supported via PET sessions, CPD allocation and study leave allowance.
* Clinical supervision & colleague education: as a Senior Clinician provide clinical supervision to non‑GP health‑care professionals; supervise F1/F2 doctors and mentor student placements when allocated.
