* Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
* Salary: M1 – UPS1 Fringe
* Hours: 40 hours per week
We are excited to announce the opening of a brand new SEND Secondary School in Chaldon, Surrey, set to launch in September 2025. This school will cater to young people aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. We are committed to providing every student with "every opportunity to achieve" through a personalised and broad curriculum.
We are seeking a highly effective SENDCo to join us at the start of this exciting project. This role involves working closely with the Head of School in all aspects of leadership and management, including managing and developing learning and teaching, curriculum, careers & work experience, assessment, and enrichment.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Promote best practice and contribute to the aims and ethos of the school through inset and CPD for new teachers.
* Work with the Head of School to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, exciting, and well-resourced curriculum.
* Act as Deputy Exam Officer, ensuring that examinations and accreditation processes comply with JCQ requirements.
* Lead the identification of meaningful post-16 destinations and implement successful transition plans.
* Oversee high-quality Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance.
* Coordinate the school’s provision in relation to each pupil's EHCP and defined SEND assessment.
* Communicate effectively with parents/carers, school employees, other agencies, and local authorities regarding pupil progress and intervention strategies.
* Advise and assist the Head of School with the strategic development of SEN policy and provision.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* QTS or QTLS is essential.
* Proven track record of excellent teaching within relevant key stages and/or special needs environment.
* Experience in leadership and managing complex scenarios effectively.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Desirable: Accredited training in specific areas of special education (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia), Management/leadership qualification, NPQSL/H/SENDCo or willingness to achieve within 2 years.
