Main duties of the job
As a Receptionist/Administrator you will be required to undertakevarious administrative duties which contribute to day to day running of thepractice. You will be required to offer general assistance either in person orover the telephone to the practice team, patients, and visitors to thepractice. Job responsibilities
As a Receptionist/Administrator you will be required tooffer general assistance to the practice team, patients, and visitors to thepractice, either in person or over the telephone. Receive and direct patientscourteously and efficiently so that they can access the appropriate service orhealthcare professional without difficult. Undertake various administrativeduties which contribute to the smooth running of the Practice, includingprovision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical and otheradministrative staff. Ensure communication to and from patients, other membersof the primary health care team and external agencies is processed accuratelyand within the necessary timescales.
Duties and Responsibilities include*
* Opening and closing of practice premises inaccordance with practice security protocols.
* Processing personal and telephone requests forappointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers aredirected to the appropriate healthcare professional.
* Processing and distributing incoming (andoutgoing) mail.
* Taking messages and passing on information.
* Filing and retrieving paperwork.
* Processing repeat prescriptions in accordancewith practice guidelines.
* Computer data entry/data allocation andcollation; processing and recording information in accordance with practiceprocedures.
* Initiating contact with and responding torequests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agenciesand providers.
* Clearing and re-stock consulting rooms arerequired.
* Providing clerical assistance in the form ofword/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning.
* Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring stationeryand other supplies.
* Dealing with clinical waste.
* Providing refreshments for staff and visitors asrequired, and assisting in keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy.
* Keeping the reception area, notice boards andleaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.

Experience
* Experience:
* Experience of working in a reception environment.
* Experience of dealing with the public/patients.
* Experience:
* Experience of answering telephone calls in a high call volume.
* Experience of Emis.
Qualifications
* Knowledge/Qualifications:
* Good General Secondary Education.
* Awareness of data security requirements.
* Understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
* Knowledge/Qualifications:
* Understanding of General Practice.
* Knowledge of Emis and Docman systems.
Skills
* Verbal communication skills ability to deal with people in person and on the telephone.
* Strong appreciation of customer service skills.
