The children, staff and governors of the Newlands Federation are looking for a primary school teacher to join our team of bank staff providing much needed cover for teacher absences across the federation. Hours are variable and on an ‘as and when required’ basis. This arrangement offers you the flexibility around when you wish to work.
Our Federation consists of two small village schools: Shere Infant School and Clandon Primary School, set in the beautiful Surrey Hills.
Our curriculum is ambitious and holistic, it is delivered through our natural pedagogies of play, the arts, nature, storytelling, dialogue games. In this way we support the natural development of children, promote their mental health and maintain their natural curiosity and independence.
The wellbeing of all staff in our federation is a core focus for us. Teaching is the most rewarding job in the world but it can also be challenging. Supporting our staff to maintain their work life balance in a way that suits their individual needs is a priority for our school leaders. Staff who feel empowered to fulfil their role to the best of their ability are then more able to create memorable and effective learning opportunities for children.
We can offer:
• The opportunity to work as part of a dedicated and supportive team, in school and across our federation.
• A real commitment to your work life balance and wellbeing.
• Excellent professional development.
• A diverse cohort of brilliant children.
• Senior leaders committed to supporting your practice.
Both our schools have received 'Good' Ofsted inspections. Our favourite quotes in the most recent report from Clandon include a pupil sharing that "everyone is loving and caring" and a parent commenting that their child is "flourishing every day".
As head teacher, I warmly invite you to visit one of our little schools. However, I must warn you that you will fall in love with them, I certainly have. Please call the School Office to book a visit.

The Newlands CE Federation and Surrey County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our recruitment and selection process will reflect this. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring checks along with other relevant employment checks.
