Join to apply for the Specialist Occupational Therapist role at Cheswold Park Hospital.
Fixed term contract of up to 12 months, 37.5 hours per week, covering the Kirklees area of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust. Based in Dewsbury, driving is essential.
Role involves working in a multidisciplinary team with a community focus and potential patient-facing visits in the community. Learning disability experience is desirable but not essential.

Main responsibilities
* Triaging and prioritising OT referrals; completing evidence-based assessments and interventions addressing self-care, productivity and leisure.
* Provide client-centred OT treatment programmes (individual and/or group) using graded activity; involve service users and carers in all aspects of care.
* Maintain high professional standards informed by evidence-based practice; coordinate care with service users and carers.
* Work within a multi-agency team; maintain clear written and verbal communication; develop and maintain relationships with relevant services and voluntary sector.
* Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of interventions using audits and outcome measures; support transition from inpatient to community living.
* Maintain clinical records per risk management guidelines; participate in clinical and managerial supervision; provide supervision to OT staff and students.
* Assist the team leader with operational management; manage staff leave and sickness to ensure service cover; participate in recruitment, induction, and annual service improvement plans.
* Contribute to service modernisation, policy implementation, and professional practice development with the OT lead; support training of staff, students and multi-professional teams.
* Promote OT role within the MDT; participate in clinical governance, continuing professional development, and research activities; share evidence-based practice.
* Provide clinical expertise, critical thinking and professional reflection to colleagues; contribute to future development of the OT service.
Qualifications and experience
Essential
* Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy; Health Care Professions Council registration.
* Post-registration experience in mental health/learning disabilities setting.
* Documented evidence of continuing professional development; supervisory experience of staff and/or students.
* Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day (reasonable adjustments considered for disability).
Desirable
* Leadership/first line management experience; experience in multiple mental health/learning disabilities settings.
* Practice Education/Practice Assessor Preparation Certificate (or to achieve within 12 months); postgraduate training relevant to mental health (e.g., psychosocial interventions, CBT, standardised assessment).
* Specialist knowledge of sensory integration and its application in practice; knowledge of occupational therapy outcome measures; ability to work autonomously and handle complex information.
