Purpose:
To carry out electrical repairs, improvements, maintenance and testing to the occupied and unoccupied properties managed by Cheltenham Borough Council.
Key duties and responsibilities:
* To carry out electrical repairs and maintenance at occupied and unoccupied homes
* Have a good working knowledge and capability for electrical repairs and improvements with an 18th edition wiring regulations qualification and be proficient in the completion of EICR’s
* Day to day responsibility for vehicles, plant, and materials under the direction of the Electrical or Repairs Supervisor and the Repairs Logistics Officer
* Ensuring the vehicle you are responsible for is kept clean, tidy, and that any issues are promptly reported in order to ensure the safety of the vehicle
* To effectively plan the days duties to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
* Carry out duties ensuring the safety of the workforce, contractors, tenants, leaseholders, and general public
* To work with the rest of the team to continuously improve the Repairs service
* To understand, report any concerns and assist in the delivery of CBC’s Safeguarding adults' policy and report these promptly
* To understand, report any concerns and assist in delivering a tailored service to tenants with protected characteristics and vulnerabilities
* To assist with other duties when electrical work is unavailable as part of the delivery of Responsive Repairs
* Assisting other tradespersons to complete Responsive Repairs as required
* Contribute effectively to team meetings, through 1-2-1 discussions and the annual appraisal process
* Working in confined spaces (loft areas)
* Willingness to work in an agile fashion to meet the demand of the business and its customers
* Willingness to undertake further training to support services provided to the customer

Essential requirements – qualifications, skills, abilities and experience:
Qualifications
* Electrical qualification, 18th edition wiring regulations and be proficient in the completion of EICR’s
* City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent in Testing and Inspection qualification
* Current Full driving licence
Experience
* Experience in a similar or related role
* Manual handling experience

* Ability to support the aims and objectives of CBC
* Demonstrate and uphold all the CBC values and punctual in attendance
* To undertake on a day-to-day basis all Electrician duties on behalf of CBC at occupied and unoccupied homes
* Ability to remove and re‑connect household appliances
* Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and awareness of the Asbestos Regulations
* Ability to work as part of a team and contribute effectively to the teamwork of the Section
* Ability to work effectively and diplomatically with all CBC colleagues
* Ability to effectively use a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) to accurately record job details, order materials and confirm work completed
* Clear understanding of customer care approach
* Ability to listen and understand information to translate into the workplace task
* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, tenants, leaseholders, and members of the public
* Ability to undertake a diverse range of tasks with a logical approach to problem solving
* Willingness to work inside or outside and punctualness
* Ability to work safely from a ladder
* Awareness of safe loading of vehicles
* Awareness of van roadworthiness
* Competency driving van sized vehicles in a town environment
Desirable requirements – qualifications, skills, abilities and experience:
* Experience of working in a Social Housing environment
* Awareness of the risks of sharps within the working environment
* Willingness to work outside normal working hours in the event of an emergency
