St Martins C of E Primary School is seeking to appoint a Kitchen Assistant from September 2025 if possible to work alongside the cook in the setting up/serving of lunches and cleaning of kitchen equipment. Training will be given to the suitable candidate.
The ideal candidate will desirably hold/or attained in the past a level 2 Food Hygiene qualification with some knowledge of special dietary needs or be willing to attend the necessary courses to gain the appropriate knowledge and skills.
The work involves ensuring the smooth running of the school kitchen, by assisting with the serving of meals, (including a range of special dietary requirements) to the children and staff at the school, in accordance with
* Current Food Safety regulations.
* School Food Standards.
* Health & Safety regulations.
and setting out and clearing away dining room furniture and equipment. Ensuring all trays and cutlery etc, are cleaned to an appropriate standard and available for use. Maintaining the hygiene/cleanliness of the kitchen. This role involves some lifting of school dining tables and benches.
All staff must have an enhanced DBS check as St Martins CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with children and will be able to supervise children and relate to them in a friendly and caring manner, whilst also being firm and fair. You will need to be a good communicator and able to build strong relationships with both pupils and staff.
Main duties include:
* Undertake cleaning and food preparation tasks to support the effective operation of the kitchen
* Assist in the setting up and clearing up of the dining hall around service of the lunch to pupils
* Assist the cook to ensure tasks are implemented and completed.
