Benefits And Housing Needs Officer – Welfare Visiting Officer

You will be working within the Placements and Visiting Team which is part of Temporary Accommodation. The team are responsible for visiting clients placed in temporary accommodation properties situated across London and Essex.

This is a hybrid role, you will be visiting residents in their properties, coming into our main office as well as working from home. Flexibility is required as no two days are the same.

You will be required to carry out home visits to residents in temporary accommodation properties across London and Essex. To deal with changes in circumstances, resolve complaints, undertake occupancy checks, assist with suitability reviews and provide support with moving on to settled accommodation. You will also be responsible for the process of eviction where the Council’s duty has ended.

To be successful in this role you will need to be proactive and able to make quick decisions in response to challenging situations. You will also need to be resilient and able to deliver difficult messages with empathy and compassion.

The Benefits & Homeless Prevention Service is a very busy service, working with a wide range of residents who need our support to deal with the complex challenges they face. It is also a great place to work, develop and learn.
