This role is a Fixed Term Contract (18 months) covering 1.8 WTE, with working hours ranging from 22.5 to 37.5 hours per week over 3 or 5 days. The position is open to all applicants and focuses on supporting the Cancer Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) across the organisation.
Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support for MDT meetings, including minute taking and live‑typing.
* Record, track and collect data for all patients with suspected or confirmed malignancy.
* Assist with monitoring treatment pathways to optimise patient care.
* Support the management of Patient Treatment Lists (PTLs) and the use of escalation policies and processes.
* Maintain and update patient information within the Cancer Register, PAS, Maxims, CRIS, Aria, Ultra and eCare systems.
* Assist with departmental data reporting and quality improvement initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
* Three GCSEs (or equivalent) at level C in Maths and English.
* Relevant IT qualification for the post (e.g., ECDL) or equivalent experience.
* Completion of Cancer E‑Learning Certificates.
* Experience working in NHS office environments.
* Meeting note‑taking and short‑typing skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).
* Effective communication with multidisciplinary staff.
* Relevant experience within a Cancer MDT department.
* Experience managing PTLs, tracking patient progress and using escalation procedures.
* Office experience in an acute NHS setting.
Desirable Qualifications
* NVQ 3 in Business Administration/IT or equivalent, AMSPAR or RSA 3 Word Processing.
* Knowledge of cancer breach analysis and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
* Experience with the Cancer Register, PAS, Maxims, CRIS, Aria, Ultra and eCare.
* Proficiency in minute‑taking and live‑typing during meetings.
* Experience managing tertiary cancer pathways and shared tracking responsibilities.
* Ability to work independently with supervision available from the immediate manager.
* Strong time‑management skills.
* Ability to work within Trust policies and time‑frames as directed by management.
* Current knowledge of International TNM staging classifications.
* Expertise in cancer pathways, systems and data to support hospital teams.
* Understanding of cancer patient pathways.
* Contributions to improving departmental processes and procedures.
* Knowledge of national cancer audits and Get it Right First Time (GIRFT) reviews.
* Knowledge or coursework in medical terminology.
