The Role
As a Senior Demand Forecasting Analyst, you will be responsible for running the daily demand forecasting models, which are in place to calculate the expected customer demand for gas and electricity usage. You will recommend and implement changes to the models that deliver greater stability and accuracy, while supporting and mentoring the other analysts in the team. You’ll lead the analysis into customer behaviour, trends and insight, covering topics such as demand destruction, introduction of half hourly settlement, customer churn and price elasticity. This role is part of the wider Trading department and works closely on Pricing and Hedging projects, reporting to the Demand Forecasting Manager.

What you’ll be getting up to in this role
* Utilise advanced SQL and Python skills to extract, clean, and analyse complex datasets, providing meaningful insights.
* Produce short‑term and long‑term daily demand forecasts to accurately model customer consumption.
* Lead continual improvement of demand forecasting models, processes and systems for power, gas and environmental product purchases.
* Monitor forecasting performance and deliver industry‑leading settlement accuracy, focusing on MAPE targets.
* Continue development of key customer behaviour modelling, e.g. demand destruction, churn and portfolio movement between fixed and variable products.
* Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in data analysis and data science.
* Support the Regulations team on RFI.
* Support the Financial teams with business planning.
* Support the Trading department to develop Trading and Pricing strategies.
Essential Requirements
* Mathematics and statistics background.
* Excellent modelling skills (SQL, VBA & Python).
* Prior experience with machine learning libraries.
* Team player.
* Excellent stakeholder communication.
* Good organisational and planning skills.
Nice to Have Requirements
* Understanding of energy wholesale markets and commodity risk.
* Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
* Understanding of industry processes & parties.
* Knowledge of gas and electricity forecasting (domestic suppliers).
* Mathematics, science, engineering, economics or similar degree level education.
