Band 7 Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist with an interest in Cardio Respiratory, Surgery and Critical Care?

We are looking for a dynamic Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to work as part of the Critical Care and Surgery Therapy Team across these specialties, including amputee rehab, long term respiratory and cardiac conditions plus an opportunity to develop the emerging role of Occupational therapy on Critical Care, hence requiring a broad set of transferrable advanced skills as well as a desire to take the MDT on an exciting journey of discovery in the role of Occupational Therapy within this field.

The successful candidate would work in conjunction with the Band 7 physiotherapists within the team supporting staff and service development, utilising local and national drivers and reporting to the lead Therapist.

Healthcare is a 7 day service and therefore the expectation will be for you to support weekend working.

Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively.


Main duties of the job

* Networking with Clinical specialists within other fields and throughout the NWA Trust to streamline and progress services.
* To work closely with the wider MDT on Critical Care to develop OT service provision in Critical Care, including early rehab, orientation and functional rehab.
* Assisting the MDT, including therapists with the rehabilitation, discharge planning or onward referrals of complex patients on the wards.
* Taking an active role in and support the skill development of staff working on our wards, including junior OT staff and Degree Apprentices.

Qualifications

* Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
* HCPC Registered
* Evidence of post graduate training/qualification relevant to clinical area - Respiratory care, surgery or acute amputee management
* Evidence of leadership or management training
* BAOT member
* Evidence of CPD (portfolio)


Experience

* NHS experience working at senior level
* Clinical experience within respiratory care, surgery or acute amputee management
* Evidence of Multi-Disciplinary working
* Experience of developing staff and sharing knowledge
* Ability to demonstrate working with local/regional/national networks
* Experience within acute inpatient hospital environment
* Demonstrate active involvement in the audit process
* Experience of supervising and mentoring junior members of staff and pre-registration students
* Experience of change management

* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* Leadership and motivational skills
* Ability to present information in a logical and concise manner
* Standard key board skills & the ability to use IT packages such as Word, Outlook, Power point & Excel
* High level of clinical reasoning
* Ability to make timely and appropriate decisions
* Strong organisation, prioritisation and delegation skills


Knowledge

* Demonstrate sound level of theoretical profession specific knowledge
* Evidence of current practices and developments within the fields of respiratory care, surgery or acute amputee management
* Sound knowledge of interventions relevant to clinical areas


Other

* Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
* Be prepared to work across sites as and when requiredProfessional appearance & behaviour
* Good previous attendance record
* Able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trusts Values and Behaviours

Salary

£49,387 to £56,515 a year pro rata
