Overview
This role leads the Children's Outpatients Department, overseeing 9 consulting rooms and a wide range of paediatric and specialist clinics operated daily with visiting consultants from Liverpool, Manchester UHNM and Oswestry. The manager is responsible for maintaining a high standard of patient care and supporting nursing and other clinical staff through visible leadership and continuous improvement.
Main Duties
- Ensure high standards of patient care at all times and challenge poor practice in line with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct.
- Collaborate with senior team members to deliver standards set in the Nursing & Midwifery and MCHFT strategy.
- Support local plans for clinical quality and external accreditation, such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC) essential standards.
- Implement agreed systems and processes to consistently provide safe, effective, high‑quality patient care and embed a culture of improvement.
- Through visible clinical leadership ensure delivery of kind, compassionate and respectful care.
- Act as the patient’s advocate when appropriate, informing decisions that may influence treatment options.
- Maintain high standards of evidence‑based patient care, including clinical observations, results recording and appropriate action based on outcomes.
- Document all actions and interventions truthfully, honestly and timely, in line with Trust policy.
- Handle patient and visitor concerns proactively, review feedback and update improvement plans.
- Store, check and administer drugs according to the Trust Medicines policy.

Qualifications
- Evidence of working at Band 6
- Master’s level qualification or equivalent
