Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 30 primary schools (19 with nurseries), and 2 standalone nurseries. Our special school, Saltersgate, supports children with various physical, social, emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties. School sizes range from approximately 20 to over 1200 pupils, serving diverse catchments from rural to urban areas. We have experienced significant growth, with 13 primary schools and 1 secondary school built in the last 10 years, with more planned.

Requirements
Pre-Employment Checks/Requirements for Teaching Positions
Successful applicants will need to complete pre-employment checks, including medical screening, two references (one from your current employer), verification of qualifications, and proof of eligibility to work in the UK. Registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS) and a PVG check for Regulated Work with Children are mandatory.

Regulated Work with Children
This post is classified as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. It is an offence to apply if barred from working with children. Successful candidates must join the PVG Scheme or update their existing membership before starting employment. The scheme membership fee (£59) or update fee (£18) will be deducted from salary over specified pay periods. Existing employees will have the costs covered by the Council.
