About the role
As Junior Legal Counsel you will support the Legal Director and Senior Counsels, working across teams in a fast‑paced, dynamic scale‑up. The position offers exposure to a wide range of legal and commercial matters in the EV infrastructure space, and is ideal for a newly qualified solicitor with an interest in infrastructure, technology, property and sustainability.
Responsibilities
Concession Agreements:
* First point of call for drafting, negotiating and completing agreements for EV charging infrastructure roll‑outs and occupational rights.
* Review and advise on industry‑standard templates such as CCS/LEVI agreements during government consultations.
* Produce engrossments and support the execution of commercial contracts, leases and licences.
* Conduct title due diligence and advise on site viability.
* Lead drafting, negotiation and completion of leases and licences for office premises.
* Handle post‑completion matters for property agreements, including land registration and SDLT calculations.
* Create and update legal templates.
* Maintain trackers and reports as required.
* Drive process improvements.
Commercial Contracts:
* Advise, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, including services contracts, energy supply agreements, hardware & software purchase contracts, NDAs, commission agreements and network roaming agreements.
Construction Contracts:
* Advisory on NEC4 and other construction‑related agreements, including installation and civil works contracts.
* Risk allocation advice for construction frameworks and contractor engagements.
* Supervise external counsel on drafting future templates.
Business:
* Collaborate with commercial teams to scope new services, define commercial terms and develop contracting structures.
* Support the Tenders and Sales Team on RFIs, ITTs and tender T&Cs.
Industry Trends & Legal Developments:
* Monitor legal developments and industry trends, continually refining legal strategies.
* Conduct legal research to support internal decision‑making and policy development.
* Engage with stakeholders, shareholders and external counsel for effective communication and relationship management.
* Provide contract interpretation and dispute support.
Team Development:
* Contribute to the growth of the legal, compliance and regulatory functions.
* Work closely with the Legal Director to align legal priorities with business strategy.
Business Support:
* Assist the Legal team in review and negotiation of agreements and support document creation and formatting.
* Prepare deal summary forms, PowerPoint presentations and tracking reports.
* Monitor external legal spend, budgeting and PO creation.
* Conduct legal research on legislative developments.
* Manage document storage and corporate policy drafts (e.g., Modern Slavery, Anti‑Bribery, Business Continuity).
Data Protection:
* Advise on data privacy and compliance matters.
* Review and enhance internal processes for GDPR compliance.
Consumer Law:
* Collaborate with the Consumer team to keep terms and conditions up‑to‑date and compliant with legislation.
About you
We are looking for a qualified solicitor (SRA) with the following attributes and skills:
* Previous experience drafting and negotiating commercial and/or property transactions and driving projects to completion.
* Interest or experience in additional areas (infrastructure, technology, sustainability) – not all required.
* Thrives in a fast‑moving scale‑up environment.
* Commercial acumen to structure advice for a start‑up and emerging industry.
* Comfortable tracking and delivering contractual milestones.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Knowledge of network infrastructure (EV, mobile, broadband, electricity).
* Familiarity with UK public procurement regimes, planning and street works requirements.
* Willingness to learn across all business areas.
