Overview
The post holder will coordinate Cancer MDT meetings across the range of tumour groups and assist in the collation of essential data for upload to national databases. The ability to work accurately and record / type clinical outcomes live at the Cancer MDT meetings is essential. The post holder will manage the coordination and tracking of patients along clinical cancer pathways, including managing the flow of information from primary and secondary care and tertiary centres and liaising with internal departments and external organisations involved in providing cancer care. The successful applicant will join the Cancer Services team based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The department works closely with the Clinical teams throughout the trust to deliver a high standard service and aims to maintain a friendly, approachable team atmosphere.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate Cancer MDT meetings across tumour groups and assist in data collation for upload to national databases.
* Record / type clinical outcomes live at MDT meetings with accuracy.
* Manage the coordination and tracking of patients along clinical cancer pathways, including information flow from primary/secondary/tertiary care and liaison with internal departments and external organisations involved in cancer care.
* Collaborate with the Cancer Services team based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and support cross-site work as required.
* Support the promotion of a high standard service and a friendly team environment within the trust.
Qualifications and Skills
* Patient focused with excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Familiar with all of the Trust's computer systems including Somerset; strong IT skills with Excel.
* Experience of administrative work including data collection, validation, analysis and reporting is essential.
* Knowledge of the Cancer Waiting Times rules is preferable.
* Resilience to cope with the fast pace of the role and the emotional and sometimes distressing nature of cancer.
