Job Description:
Are you a recent Psychology or Criminology Graduate interested in a career in mental health and learning therapeutic and restorative practices?
A Specialist School in Wheatley seeks a vibrant and friendly graduate to join as a Mental Health Support Assistant, supporting pupils with mental health needs.
The students, aged 11 to 18, come from diverse backgrounds with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, often having experienced adverse childhood experiences and trauma. They require 1:1 support to help regulate thoughts and emotions.
This classroom-based role involves collaborating with teachers and mental health professionals to engage and support students, identify triggers related to trauma, and assist with classwork to meet academic and emotional milestones.
This position offers a valuable opportunity for graduates to gain experience in mental health and well-being support, applying psychological or criminological knowledge in practical settings and learning therapeutic techniques.
