Are you an experienced and skilled Security Technical Engineer looking for a stable, rewarding role where your work makes a real difference? Join our friendly, multi-skilled technical team at the University of York and become an essential part of our vibrant campus community. You\'ll be at the heart of our operations, maintaining and improving a diverse range of buildings, from our state-of-the-art facilities to historic Guildhall city-centre location.
As a valued member of our team, you\'ll tackle a wide variety of tasks, including planned maintenance, new installations, and essential repair work. You\'ll work primarily on our beautiful 400-acre campus, ensuring our staff, students, and the public have safe and reliable facilities.
We largely operate core hours Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm, but during periods of high demand the team is expected to work flexibly to ensure continuity of the service. You will be part of an on-call rota team covering business critical issues out of hours and at weekends, with overtime paid in addition to the call out allowance for attendance on site. We offer a daily rate for standby and call out (average of £1,200 per year) plus opportunity for overtime
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
We are seeking a proactive and skilled individual with a City and Guilds Level (or equivalent) in alarm and / or security technical installations and repair.
You should be a great problem-solver, knowledgeable about health and safety, and committed to upholding our values.
Essential Requirements:
 * Craft trade apprentice, trained to City and Guilds Level in the core trade or equivalent qualifications.
 * Full UK driving licence.
 * Current domestic Security TechnicalCCTV installation qualifications.
 * Demonstrable experience in a building services environment.
 * Knowledge of safety regulations, including COSHH and risk assessment and relevant security system knowledge.
 * Strong experience with health and safety risk management techniques.
 * A flexible and adaptable approach to your work and hours.
 * Evidence of upholding our behaviours as detailed within the accompanying person specification.
