Our work is of strategic importance, ensuring the security of the UK’s nuclear deterrent and managing complex defence programmes. At least one nuclear submarine is on patrol at all times.

About the Role
The Senior Health & Safety Adviser leads H&S investigations, reviews, and reporting, embedding legislation and regulations across the business. The ideal candidate will have on-site H&S experience in a regulated environment, liaising with on-site partners to ensure H&S obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities
1. Act as an escalation point for H&S advice and guidance.
2. Embed OHS legislation and regulations across SDA.
3. Develop and maintain H&S policies and SEMS.
4. Oversee KPIs, dashboard reporting, and risk registers.
5. Manage H&S corporate communications.
6. Coordinate with H&S Advisors on site.
7. Organize Site Safety Training.
8. Review and provide metrics for the Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee.
9. Liaise with stakeholders to develop H&S procedures.
10. Monitor and report on internal hazard safety KPIs.
11. Act as a subject matter expert in design review meetings.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid and flexible working options are considered, with regular attendance required due to security constraints. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the line manager.
Qualifications & Experience
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 5/6 OH&S qualification.
* Experience conducting risk assessments and audits (Expert level).
