This is an office-based position at Otterbourne; remote or home working is not available. The fixed full-time rota is based on current service needs (see attached). Training courses in December and January are available for new team members.
Job Responsibilities
The role involves handling a wide variety of NHS 111 calls. You do not need a medical background, but you should be detailed, efficient, and able to be assertive yet compassionate. You will work as part of a team to support patients in often stressful or distressing situations, with emphasis on emotional resilience and managing pressures. Main duties include:
* Providing information and support to callers, including those experiencing health concerns or crises
* Assessing needs using NHS Pathways and other clinical tools after training
* Collaborating with team members to deliver safe, effective care
Qualifications and Training
Essential: Good all-round education (e.g., 2 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English) or equivalent demonstrable experience. For safeguarding, applicants must be over 18.
Desirable: NHS Pathways Trained; NVQ 2/3 Customer Services or equivalent experience
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience in a customer/patient services environment and dealing with the general public
* Experience using a computerised system
* Experience using a telephone as a regular means of communication in a work environment
Desirable: Experience in a call centre; geographical knowledge of the operational area; rotating shifts; experience in voluntary/health sectors; patient care; knowledge of first aid and/or anatomy
