Job Advert – Registered Building Inspector (Level 2 A–F) – South East London Council Client: Local Authority – South East London Job Title: Registered Building Inspector (Level 2 A–F) Location: South East London Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract Pay Rate: £450 per day Umbrella LTD / £360 per day PAYE Start Date: ASAP About the Role: We are currently recruiting for a Registered Building Inspector (Level 2 – A to F) on behalf of a forward-thinking local authority in South East London. This is a key role within the Building Control team, supporting the council’s regulatory responsibilities under the Building Safety Act and providing professional advice and inspections across a varied and active portfolio. You will ensure that construction and development works comply with relevant Building Regulations, conduct inspections, investigate contraventions, and act as the Council’s Competent Person within your assigned competency band. Key Responsibilities: Conduct plan checks and site inspections to assess compliance with Building Regulations Prepare detailed inspection schedules and oversee construction phases Investigate unauthorised or non-compliant works and enforce necessary actions Lead assessments of dangerous structures and initiate enforcement when required Manage demolition notices and ensure safe delivery of demolition works Support the development of new processes and contribute to service innovation Provide clear advice and technical guidance to applicants, contractors, and internal teams Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and manage your inspection workload in line with regulatory and council standards Deliver high levels of customer service and promote a positive reputation for the Building Control teamWhat We’re Looking For: Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) – Level 2 A–F Relevant qualifications: RICS, CABE, CIOB membership (or working towards) Proven technical knowledge of Building Regulations, dangerous structures, and site inspection protocols Excellent report writing and record-keeping skills Ability to work independently and manage conflicting site inspection demands Strong communication and customer engagement skills Familiarity with digital inspection tools and compliance software Ability to travel across the borough as requiredDesirable: Experience with public sector Building Control services Leadership experience or ability to mentor junior staff Understanding of the Building Safety Regulator’s expectations and the Golden ThreadHow to Apply: If this role is of interest or you’d like to discuss other opportunities in Building Control, get in touch today on (phone number removed) or email (url removed)
