An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced neonatal nurse / midwife to join the bank on the neonatal unit. Our modern and friendly Neonatal unit consists of 2 ITU/HDU and 7 Special care cots. The postholder must be Neonatal Qualified in Specialty. The postholder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs, the development of programmes of care and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes, ensuring the delivery of the highest quality of care to babies and their parents / carers. The postholder will support the ward manager in the day to day running of the ward. The postholder will be required to provide leadership on a shift by shift basis to ensure effective and safe operation of the department. The postholder will mentor junior staff (registered nurses/non-registered nurses and learners), who will also require support and supervision. The postholder has responsibility and accountability for maintaining both clinical and staff governance and may be required to work within any of the Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary areas – particularly, but not exclusively, paediatrics and maternity units.
