Responsibilities
of the Design Manager
1. Lead and manage the design process from pre-construction through to completion, primarily on refurbishment and conversion projects
2. Produce and review technical drawings construction details and design solutions where required
3. Coordinate design input between consultants subcontractors and internal teams
4. Attend site and design meetings resolving technical issues and ensuring smooth delivery
5. Review and challenge design proposals to ensure buildability compliance and cost effectiveness
6. Work closely with planning building control and conservation officers to ensure statutory approvals are achieved
7. Manage design documentation and ensure accurate and timely information is provided to site teams
Requirements of the Design Manager
8. HNC HND BSc in Architecture, Construction or a related discipline
9. Previous experience in a Design Manager or Senior Architectural role
10. Strong knowledge of traditional construction methods listed building refurbishment and structural alterations
11. Proficient in AutoCAD/Revit and comfortable producing or modifying working drawings and technical details
12. Familiar with UK Building Regulations planning processes and heritage project constraints
13. Excellent communication skills and ability to manage design coordination across complex project teams
