The Vacancy

Introduction to the role
As part of our Estates team, you will use your skills to help us deliver high-quality estates services to our communities. You need the ability to use your initiative to carry out daily tasks in an efficient & safe manner, taking personal responsibility for delivering an excellent service for our customers. You'll work effectively and proactively with colleagues to maintain high standards.
Role purpose
You will be responsible for looking after a patch of estates and buildings in all weather conditions, ensuring that the external and internal areas of blocks are safe and kept to a good standard. This will include organisation, removal & reporting of bulk waste, rubbish & repairs, cleanliness of our communal areas including corridors, stairwells, lifts, open spaces, bin stores, drying & parking areas, which will involve cleaning duties such as vacuuming and mopping. You will also work as part of a team on specific projects. You will have support from your manager during your daily tasks & be expected to assist other teams within the organisation.
What's the role?
Key Accountabilities:
* Highlighting any contractor issues and working closely with cleaning and grounds maintenance contractors to ensure a responsive service against the Service standards
* Undertake clearances and minor repairs.
* Taking ownership for the overall tidiness of WCH-maintained communal areas, including undertaking minor manual handling jobs.
* Working closely with Housing Officers and contractors to ensure consistent and high standard service delivery to communal areas and surrounding environments.
* Providing a visible and responsive service to customer requests on estates-related issues.
* Initially dealing with and where relevant passing on ASB and repair-related issues.
* Ensuring health and safety, equality, regulatory and legal compliance is adhered to in respect of all areas of Trust responsibility, including Trust-managed communal areas, grounds, car parking and play areas.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
* Have had some experience of working in an estates or caretaking role.
* Be able to work alone & as a team member.
* You will need to maintain a satisfactory basic level DBS check.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office including emails
* To be able to confidently use a mobile phone and various applications.
* Ability to problem solve whilst on your estates.
* To be able to work collaboratively with internal & external stakeholders.
Desirable:
* At least one years' experience in an estates or caretaking role
* Qualifications to GCSE level
* Knowledge of the housing sector
