Purpose of the Role
The Dental Hygienist/Therapist at our newly opened Manchester Clinic will play a key role in preventive oral care, building patient trust, and reducing dental anxiety. This role supports Truly's high standards of clinical governance while contributing to the growth and reputation of a new flagship clinic.
Main Responsibilities
* Perform hygiene treatments: scaling, polishing, airflow, periodontal maintenance, and deep cleaning.
* Conduct oral health assessments: gum health, risk factors, soft tissue evaluation.
* Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, and prevention of dental disease.
* Collaborate with dentists and clinical staff to align treatment plans.
* Ensure accurate patient record-keeping and compliance with governance and safety protocols.
* Use modern hygiene equipment, ensuring infection control and patient comfort.
* If Therapist qualified: perform fillings and restorative procedures within scope of practice.
* Contribute to patient-centered culture, supporting the team in a new clinic environment.
Requirements: Competencies & Skills
Education / Qualifications
* Qualified and licensed Dental Hygienist (GDC registration required).
* Therapist qualification desirable.
Experience
* Minimum 2 years of experience preferred.
* Open to newly graduated candidates with strong adaptability and motivation.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
* Proficiency in scaling, polishing, periodontal maintenance, and airflow.
* Strong understanding of infection control protocols.
* Knowledge of restorative treatments (if Therapist).
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
* Empathy and clarity in patient communication, with ability to support nervous patients.
* Strong interpersonal skills with team and patients.
Other Competencies
* High attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required.
* Collaborative, team-oriented approach in a small clinic environment.
