Job Responsibility:
The Pharmacy Department at PAH is excited to announce the vacancy of Senior Dispensing Assistant based within our dispensary. This position supports the running of the dispensary in supplying medicines to patients throughout the hospital and supporting a varied team of friendly staff. As a senior band 3, this is a developmental step for an experienced Pharmacy Support worker looking to build their skills and responsibilities in a supportive environment.
The main duties and responsibilities include:
* Supporting the dispensary manager to provide an effective pharmacy service in the Dispensary.
* Working alongside pharmacy technicians to lead in the training of rotational and core staff in the dispensary.
* Applying skills and knowledge to a range of activities concerned with the dispensing of prescribed items, including controlled drugs.
* Being part of the on-call rota to provide an out of hours service in the dispensary.
* Team leading to manage queries and workflow in the dispensary.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Co-ordinating daily activities, including ensuring compliance with the rota and escalating issues to the dispensary manager.
* Ensuring the dispensary environment is maintained to a high standard.
* Leading, training, guiding, and supervising staff in their duties in the dispensary.
* Deputising for the dispensary manager on a short-term basis when required.
* Identifying, selecting, and issuing drugs, including clinical trials and controlled drugs.
* Receiving and dealing with patient, relative, and healthcare worker queries.
* Ensuring adequate supplies and accurate stock control of all items required in the department.
