About Us
About Us
The Department of Political Economy invites applications for a Lectureship in Comparative Politics (Academic Education Pathway). The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of teaching in the Department and be able to contribute to the development of research-led teaching in both any subfield of comparative politics. Candidates should be able to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The department is informed by an inclusive interdisciplinary vision and welcomes applications from candidates who share that vision. The Department values diversity and inclusion and a work-life balance.
The Department of Political Economy is a unique interdisciplinary enterprise located in the heart of London with proximity to both the world of politics and the city. Founded in 2010, the department is the only dedicated Department of Political Economy in the United Kingdom. The teaching and research recognises that the disciplines of Politics and Economics are inextricably linked; it is not possible to properly understand political processes without exploring the economic context in which politics operates. Similarly, sound economic analysis requires an awareness of how resource allocation is conditioned by political institutions, historical context and ethical values, and the way these have been understood by different traditions in social thought. In a world characterised by financial uncertainty, ecological insecurity and value conflict, the links between political and economic processes are ever more apparent and the need for a multifaceted appreciation of how they operate, has never been greater.
