Overview
Registered Nurse - Medical Assessment Unit 1 is a role at NHS Scotland. The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team with responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of care programmes to ensure the delivery of high quality care to patients.
The post holder is expected to carry out relevant forms of care with limited supervision. The post may involve demonstrating procedures to and supervising registered and/or unregistered staff, as well as student nurses.
Responsibilities
The post holder will direct, coordinate and supervise, where appropriate, the work of other staff within the ward or department to promote best practice in patient care. In the absence of senior staff, the post holder will provide cover to ensure effective ward/department operation. Duties may vary with ward/department and patient dependency.
Location: Medical Assessment Unit 1, University Hospital Wishaw. Working pattern includes 12-hour shift patterns with rotational shifts. Part-time and full-time hours available; salary pro-rated for part-time posts.
Contract type: Permanent.

Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
* Excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
* Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Excellent time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology

Desired/Additional Skills
* Educated to degree level or completed post-registration courses
* CPD evidence (e.g., relevant courses)
* Start, meeting PREP standards
* Clinical skills such as IV drug therapy, cannulation and phlebotomy
* Experience with NHS Patient Management Systems
* Evidence of post-registration skills and positive professional attributes
