What does the role involve?
Reporting to the Risk Operations Manager and working closely with our supportive team of Underwriters, you will be required to make decisions on credit applications that have been referred by the system and assess the customers' affordability to ensure we are being a responsible lender at all times. You will adhere to internal and external controls to maintain brand integrity as well as ensure all customers are treated fairly, regulatory requirements are met, and wherever possible referrals are dealt with at the first point of contact.
This role comes with a high level of responsibility and decision making however a comprehensive training plan will ensure your success here at Novuna.
This is a hybrid role with the requirement to attend the Leeds office on a weekly basis. You will work a shift pattern between the hours of 8am-8pm, across 7 days a week. This will include alternate weekends and 1 late shift per week of 12pm - 8pm.
Please note, we have a 12-month FTC and a permanent role available to join the Underwriting team.
Some of your key duties will include:
* Resolving referred cases efficiently and accurately in line with process, procedures and mandate levels
* Providing expert advice and support to stakeholders across the business unit reducing risk of financial loss
* Delivering and demonstrating fair customer outcomes
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who possesses a high level of accuracy and attention to detail at all times. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to build rapport and effective working relationships. Previous underwriting experience or knowledge of credit files would be highly desirable but not essential as the successful candidate will be provided with a supportive training plan which includes, 1 to 1 coaching, workshops, and shadowing to ensure you have all the tools you need to succeed in the role.
