Salary: £26,606 with progression to £29,379
Location: Head Office in Sunderland - Remote Working considered

About the role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Interim Payroll Assistant to join our Payroll team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This role plays a key part in supporting the timely and accurate delivery of payroll services for employees across the organisation. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will assist with end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring compliance with UK payroll legislation, pension regulations, and internal controls. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid payroll administration experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, service-focused environment supporting a geographically dispersed workforce.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Previous experience in a payroll administration or payroll assistant role.
* Experience supporting end-to-end payroll processing.
* Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
* Experience handling confidential information appropriately.High level of integrity and discretion.
* A collaborative team player with a positive, supportive approach.
