Role Summary:
We're looking for calm, confident, and quick-thinking people to join our busy Control Room team. As a Control Room Operator, you'll be at the centre of everything that happens at Birmingham Airport — monitoring systems, responding to incidents, coordinating information, and keeping people safe.
No two days are the same: from routine operations to unexpected events, you'll play a key role in making sure passengers, staff, and partners have a safe and efficient airport experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor airport operations using systems such as CCTV, alarms, access control, and communication tools.
* Respond quickly and effectively to incidents, alerts, and emergency situations.
* Act as a central communication hub, coordinating information between teams, partners, and emergency services.
* Keep accurate records and ensure senior staff are fully briefed.
* Support the coordination of safety and emergency responses, including First Aid and operational disruptions.
* Work closely with colleagues across different departments and external partners to keep operations running smoothly.
* Promote a strong safety culture, spotting hazards and supporting safety initiatives.
* Use operational data and reporting tools to support decision-making and performance improvements.
Experience Required:
* Previous experience in an emergency operations, control room, or contact centre environment is highly desirable.
* Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills.
* Ability to stay calm, resilient, and decisive under pressure.
* Comfortable using IT systems to monitor activity and manage information.
* Flexible to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
* Able to pass a colour-blindness test.
