About the role
The Communications Team is at the heart of Council work, helping to promote decisions, publicise events and keep everyone informed and up to date. The team works closely with councillors and senior managers to ensure all areas of the Council's work get the publicity they need to help residents in their daily lives – from bin collections to staging the Godiva Festival, roadworks and fostering and adoption.
As a Digital Content and PR Officer you will play a pivotal role in shaping and sharing Coventry City Council's story. Your expertise will help deliver innovative content that supports strategic communication campaigns, ensuring they resonate with and reflect the diverse communities we serve.
Responsibilities
* Promote Council decisions and publicise events, ensuring residents are informed.
* Shape and share Coventry City Council's story across media, social, digital and internal marketing.
* Deliver innovative content that supports strategic communication campaigns.
* Coordinate events, including VIP visits and community festivals such as the Godiva Festival.
* Offer supportive advice on messaging and brand consistency across channels.
* Build strong relationships with media, colleagues and the community.
* Assist in internal marketing and graphic design activities.
Qualifications and experience
* Experience in communications, PR or marketing, ideally within the public sector.
* Solid understanding of media relations, campaign planning and audience engagement.
* Confidence with video and audio tools such as podcasting, or a willingness to learn.
